Vegan Sausage Gravy Toast

This recipe makes 4-5 servings of sausage gravy

Ingredients:

  • Sliced sourdough bread
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 8oz of vegan ground meat
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 2 tsp of garlic powder
  • 2 tsp of onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp of ground sage
  • 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes
  • 3 tbsp of vegan butter
  • 1/4 cup al-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 cups of plant milk, unsweetened original
  • 2 tsp of dried parsley

Directions:

  1. In a skillet over low-medium heat, add in the olive oil. Once hot, add in the vegan ground meat. Season with 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, and 1/4 tsp of ground sage. Use a spatula to break apart the ground meat to resemble crumbled sausage. Cook until the meat has browned and is fully cooked
  2. In the same pan, reduce the heat to low and add in 2 tbsp of vegan butter followed by 1/4 cup of flour. Mix well until the flour coats the vegan meat
  3. Next, slowly add in the 2 cups of the plant milk, constantly stirring so that the sausage and gravy don't stick to the bottom of the skillet. This should take about 5 - 10 minutes
  4. Stir in the remaining seasonings - 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes, and 2 tsp of dried parsley
  5. Add the remaining 1/4 cup of plant milk if the gravy is too thick. Taste and adjust with seasonings if needed
  6. Now for the toast. Add vegan butter to sliced sourdough bread and toast until golden
  7. Add the sausage gravy to the toast and top with fresh parsley
  8. Now pat yourself on the back because you diddddd that!
