Vegan Sausage Gravy Toast

This recipe makes 4-5 servings of sausage gravy
Ingredients:
- Sliced sourdough bread
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- 8oz of vegan ground meat
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of black pepper
- 2 tsp of garlic powder
- 2 tsp of onion powder
- 1/4 tsp of ground sage
- 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes
- 3 tbsp of vegan butter
- 1/4 cup al-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 cups of plant milk, unsweetened original
- 2 tsp of dried parsley
Directions:
- In a skillet over low-medium heat, add in the olive oil. Once hot, add in the vegan ground meat. Season with 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, and 1/4 tsp of ground sage. Use a spatula to break apart the ground meat to resemble crumbled sausage. Cook until the meat has browned and is fully cooked
- In the same pan, reduce the heat to low and add in 2 tbsp of vegan butter followed by 1/4 cup of flour. Mix well until the flour coats the vegan meat
- Next, slowly add in the 2 cups of the plant milk, constantly stirring so that the sausage and gravy don't stick to the bottom of the skillet. This should take about 5 - 10 minutes
- Stir in the remaining seasonings - 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes, and 2 tsp of dried parsley
- Add the remaining 1/4 cup of plant milk if the gravy is too thick. Taste and adjust with seasonings if needed
- Now for the toast. Add vegan butter to sliced sourdough bread and toast until golden
- Add the sausage gravy to the toast and top with fresh parsley
