Back again with another yummy tofu recipe! This time, we’re making BBQ tofu, perfect for the summer

The BBQ tofu was pan-seared and so flavorful! Extra-firm tofu that has been frozen and thawed out is my absolute fav!

You can honestly follow these exact same steps using any sauce you’d like. Try it with a dairy free buffalo sauce, bang bang sauce, teriyaki sauce, or even a sweet and sour sauce.

BBQ Tofu Ingredients:

  • 16 oz of extra firm tofu (freeze and thaw out before using)
  • 3 tbsps of liquid aminos
  • 2 tbsps of olive oil
  • 2 tbsps of corn starch (optional)
  • 3/4 cup of bbq sauce

    Instructions:

  • Freeze the tofu overnight in either its original packaging or a freezer bag
  • Once completely frozen, remove the tofu from the freezer and thaw out. Simply sit the tofu on your counter. The thawing process will take several hours
  • When ready to cook, cube the tofu (or break it apart using your hands) and toss with olive oil and the liquid aminos. Sprinkle in the cornstarch, if using, and ensure each piece is coated
  • Add the tofu to an oiled skillet over medium heat and cook on each side until brown and crispy
  • Next, add in 3/4 cup of the BBQ sauce and mix well. Let simmer until the BBQ sauce cooks down a bit (should cook for about 5-7 mins)
  • Serve with tacos, on a salad, a wrap, as an appetizer
