Vegan Philly Cheese "Steak"

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of shredded or sliced mushrooms
  • Vegan provolone cheese (I used Follow Your Heart)
  • 1 large green bell pepper
  • 3 tbsps of steak sauce
  • Seasoning salt, garlic powder and pepper to taste
  • Hoagie rolls

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Shred or slice mushrooms, bell pepper and onions
  3. Coat mushrooms with steak sauce and saute in a skillet with olive oil for 10 minutes
  4. Transfer to baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes
  5. While mushrooms are baking, in the same skillet you cooked the mushrooms in, sautee onions and bell peppers until tender and slightly brown
  6. Combine baked mushrooms, onions and peppers with seasonings. Add 4 slices of vegan provolone on top of mixture while in the skillet
  7. Cover with a lid and turn heat to low.
  8. Keep covered until cheese has melted
  9. Assemble sandwiches by adding mushrooms, provolone, peppers and onion mix to bread
